Description

Shadi running away from the guards, again. :D While she's in a way forced to beg and steal, she quite enjoys being a thief. She likes the danger, the thrill of taking something without being noticed, or the adrenaline rush when she is chased by the guards.
In this case she managed to escape by climbing up a wall, something she's VERY good at, she even has the time to mock the guards chasing her!
...Shadi should really try to change her lifestyle, before something bad happens. At this point the soldiers may recognize her on sight, and the "Kings of Beggars", the criminal overlords who rule the slums, don't like freelance thieves stealing in their territories...  In both cases death would be the better option.

Anyways! This drawing took me AGES to finish, especially because I had only an hour a day to work on it if I was lucky. I've been working on it for a whole month, and I was starting to be quite sick of it XD  (also why I haven't posted much, this kept me busy).
This is the first time I worked on a perspective of this kind, and let me tell you it was pure madness! It looks off in many places, especially Shadi's position is all wrong (and it irks me to no end), but at the same time I'm pretty damn pleased of the result! :D In the end it was good practice for the future, I learned a lot.

I really hope you like it, and if you have any feedback I'd be super happy to hear it! :D  Oh, and happy holidays to everyone!

Merry Critmas from the Samurai Snowmen!

There's a great mix of emotions in this piece, from the cheerful character climbing the wall, to the angry shouting guard, and the awe and wonder of bystanders. The two cat-people on the right are especially interesting, with the left being slightly worried and the right grinning with pride. The greatest achievement of this piece is that with emotions alone you've told a story about someone running away from angry chasers while their friends look on from the side.

As you mention in the description, the perspective of the piece is maddeningly difficult. I get the feeling you want the climber to be out of reach, but I think they're maybe only their own height up the wall, well within reach of those guards or their weapons. You could probably make the climber bigger to make them seem higher, and add three or four times as many bricks in the wall below them. Also the ground looks too close somehow? And the gray-beard in the upper left corner could be a human or a dwarf, I can't get a clear idea of their height but their stockiness makes me think dwarf.

Fantastic detail work, though I'm sure you know that. The cracked walls and architecture of the buildings, the minor details of armor and clothing, the small items sitting around, it's all great. There's three details that worry me – but probably make perfect sense within your world. First, that reptilian looks too big to fit into those doors and I feel bad for them, they probably have to sleep outside or in a horse stall. Second, the cloth over the guard's chests look like bras, which make them look a little silly like a superhero wearing their underwear on the outside. And third, the second guard's face mask feels like they are a “Faceless Guard #5” type character which is weird when everyone else feels so unique.

Vision: From the emotions alone I can figure out the story here.

Originality: You attempted something difficult with the perspective and I have to commend that.

Technique: This piece is so good I don't care that the perspective looks weird.

Impact: Everyone within the piece evokes emotion, but the dusty color palette doesn't help.
